Rainy Days

Spring rain that turns all things green... Posted by Hello

It has been raining--you know, those spring rains that turn all things green and makes all things soggy and muddy. I hear the rain on the attic roof splashing and the wind around the house and trees sighing. It makes all things peaceful and quiet.

Calving season is in full swing. Hardly a day goes by that we do not have another little one born. The pastures are full of scampering calves.

We watched as Mrs. Donkey (my dd calls her Sheehaw) pranced around the pasture on her 1st day out of the pen since we bought her. The cattle, curious, kept sniffing her and she kept kicking at them. Then she would take off and dash around, no doubt getting the exercise she has lacked for several days. She did not attack any calves and she seemed to be content. That is all a good sign.

My daughter’s play was really fun to watch. The children all worked so hard and were able to do a wonderful job. Messier Marathon on Friday night was fun, but there was enough water vapor in the air that we quit around 2:00 a.m.

Right now the kitties are purring and grunting as the circle my chair, rubbing their soft bodies against my legs, trying to convince me to head downstairs to the cat food dishes. My hubby is making noises in the kitchen. Any chance he’s making us some breakfast??

I’m reading Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. I just started it, but it has caught my attention.

And now I must get going. I rose late, and the day is off to a slow start.

“The time of labor does not with me differ from the time of prayer; and, in the noise and confusion of the kitchen where I am at work, while several persons are a the same time calling for different things, I possess God in as great tranquility as if I were upon my knees at the Blessed Sacrament.” Brother Lawrence

I could use a little more of this! Blessings.

I love this Brother Lawrence quote, Jean. I long to see all of my life as worship -- piles of dishes and laundry challenge my attitude, but I am grateful to know they aren't inconsistent with walking with God (since they are my constant companions!)

Good words (as always!)
