And here I thought I was taking a walk all by myself...

The Thursday Three
Our astronomy club is planning another night of viewing for the public. Only two of us are available to work, so we may have to limit the number of folk who come out. I enjoy taking my laser pointer and showing people the constellations and telling them the stories that rotate overhead.
I find myself drawn to look up into the skies each night to see what I can see. What do you see from your home when you look up?
What constellations can you locate?
Were you able to see the cluster of planets in the sky this week?
If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you probably know that I enjoy the night skies. I can only see parts of the sky if I am too close to my house since we have so many trees. When I walk down the lane, I can see most of the dome above, but the small town in the northwest illuminates the sky enough that I am never able to see much there. One night a friend and I worked through all the constellations we could find—and only missed a couple of the northern ones since they were not above the horizon. My sky has been too cloudy for sky observing this week, but I’ve been watching Jupiter slip through Virgo this summer.
Blessings!

Jean, I enjoy it so much when you write about astronomy. We're able to see a fair amount from our house (there is a park right across from our front yard). I can pick out the Big & Little Dipper, Orion, and I just taught my self to find Bootes. I'm working on learning more.
I was in Boston for the trio of planets, so didn't see them (siblings had other plans). But we enjoyed Jupiter all month, and I was treated to a great view of Jupiter from the plane coming home from Boston - since we were chasing the sunset we got to see it for a long time!
Enjoying your blog and all your great pictures!
Of course, you're not alone. Those kitties love you!
That is such a cute picture.
I don't look up so much now that we're living in town. I miss those big night skies in the country. I spent two years in NW Ontario, and you could really stars, and northern lights, up there. You are a rich woman.
I often think, "I am never alone" as I see the dog, the cats, the rabbits, etc. all needing me...even when the children are gone other places.
We are planning to hang out on the deck tonight, seeing what is happening up in the heavens. I love those times.
Wish you were nearby to point things out -- I learn so quickly with a teacher at my side.
Happy Thursday,
Diane
I was gone most of the day, and it sure feels good to get home and see some friends have dropped by. Wouldn't it be nice if we could drop by each others' homes instead of having to blog?
