Catch-Up Time

Monday morning. I couldn’t sleep and at 5:30 the kitties and I curled up on the sofa in the sun porch to watch the fire in the wood stove. It was a busy weekend, and today I’ve decided I need a mental health day—isn’t that what the school systems call it? I’m going to sort and organize a few things around here and let the poohs sleep in.

I weighed in on Saturday morning, and much to my chagrin, I had not lost my .5 lbs! I’d been careful this week, so perhaps it is time to add my weight lifting to the schedule. I know that weights can actually increase body weight since muscle weighs more than fat, but the burning of the extra calories should be good. I was trying to decide what to do—should I try to lose a whole pound this week, or should I rework my calendar? The answer to my question was made easy this morning because the scale said the mystery .5 lb is gone this morning! I’ll just keep on track and see what happens next weekend. I hope those of you who are joining in had a successful week.

The children were in the 4-H county music contest this weekend. The boys took blue ribbons for their pieces and Bethany received what is called a star blue, which means she will be asked to play in another program in May. All of the hard work at the piano does pay off, even if some children are determined that the task is both boring and useless. There are days that I think it would be nice to hire someone else to give those piano lessons, but I don’t suppose the battle goes away that easily!

We had to call the vet this weekend. Bethany’s cow and calf, September and December the 2nd, have not been doing well. The vet thinks December’s scours could be due to the antibiotics she has had. Did you know that farmers give their animals yogurt to reintroduce good bacteria into their systems just like we do for humans? It is rather odd going to the grocery store to buy Dannon yogurt for the cows…

Thoughts from my Big Green Chair

“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

Have you ever considered what this means? There seems to be two obvious translations. 1) We are asking God to forgive us in the same manner as we forgive others (ouch). 2) God forgives us and we shall in like manner forgive others (I’ll try).

The 1st one is a translation, in my mind, of living under the law. The 2nd one is the path of grace—as we are made holy, we respond in ways that are pleasing to God.

Let us walk in grace.

Blessings.

Jean,

I am on track with my schedule. I'm down 4 pounds in total. I haven't exercised the last week because I was fighting off a virus, but I will get back to it this week. I was lifting weights and that does indeed help speed the metabolism. My 17 yods has lost almost 50 pounds since last summer. The last 15 have come off rather quickly since he added weights to his workout. I'm going to use his success as my motivator!

Have a great week.

Hi Jean!

I just thought I would drop by to visit your beautiful pictures and inspiring thoughts. Thank you for the great email you sent me about your farm! I wanted to respond, but my family and I were involved in a terrible car wreck on Valentine's day. On our way to church for AWANA's, we were hit head-on by a driver who thought it was a four lane road instead of a two. It is still unbelieveable to me that my children were not hurt (we had them all in age-appropriate child seats). My husband was really bruised-up, but I had the most severe injuries. Despite the terrible circumstances, God orchestrated it all for everyone's protection! Although I have no memory of it, I swerved at the last moment and took the full impact of the car on my door. I had to be cut out of the car and then care-flighted to the hospital because it was thought that I had a lot of internal injuries. But I had none! My worst injury was my left arm which was crushed. I now have a steel plate and 4 screws in my elbow and a full arm cast (this is taking me forever to type :o) Otherwise, I am fine! Praise God for His protection and faithful care of my family!

Have a beautiful day knowing that God is the great keeper and protector when we are vulnerable!

Wow, Sandy! It so good to hear that you are doing it, too! And Wendy, too! Each pound is success!

Kristi, I'm sooooo sorry to hear about the accident! I'm also very pleased to hear that you were not injured any more than you were and that your family is O.K. A woman near here was in an accident where she, too, was injured--broke almost every bone on her left side, but had no internal injuries. I can't imagine what you have gone through. Prayers and blessings.
