Jean, Great blog post! I had to forward it to my daughter. She detests math. It is probably because she has such a difficult time knowing her math facts. She knows them when you ask them in isolation, but to use them...ah, that is another things all together.
I cannot figure it out. She knows the processes, but all her errors are math fact errors. It isn't carelessness. I think she just struggles to retrieve the answer, even though we review all the time.
But ask her about horses....she can tell you every bone, every muscle, every capillary. They tell me this is typical of ADHD teens. So, I am with Kim...I want to burn the math book sometimes! lol Nicole
I am both the wife of an engineer-turned-farmer in the beautiful hills of Wisconsin and the homeschooling mom of 3 teenagers. We raise Simmental cattle and grow corn, and soybeans. We also raise chickens and turkeys for our own use and have laying hens. We are giving our children a Christian classical education,
and this is our 13th year of homeschooling. The night sky is my hobby. I sew, knit, bake bread, cook from scratch, grind wheat, garden, make soap and so much more! Also, I should not forget to tell you that we all love cats! Welcome!
