Today's reading: Psalm 39
My hope is in you. NIV
A blanket on my shoulders,
And one upon my legs;
A cat upon my lap,
A pencil in my hand,
And my mind as blank as the paper before me.
I write in my Journal the things I want my children to read someday--
memories of our life together, reminders of who we are.
What can I write to celebrate this day?
------------------------------------------------------
A large boy has carried his favorite barn cat up the stairwell where I sit pondering. The cat who comes and goes with no remorse for the child who fearfully waits his never returning, purrs and begs for food. Down the stairwell he goes only to return--but this time he brings Snowflake. He deposits Sir Purrs-A-Lot into my lap and heads back down the stairs. The cat rubs against me and serenely wanders off to the water dish.
Moments later my son returns wearing a mask, wanting to see if it will scare the white cat who has returned to sit behind me.
Nope.
Then I hear a car driving down the lane and the back door slam. Bounding up the stairwell comes a child whose eyes are shining and is bubbling over with the excitement of the night, only to bound back down the stairwell to join in the chatter in the kitchen.
Perhaps I, too, will go and be with them. It is good to come away and find how precious life can be. Time apart gives us joy at time together.
(Who was it who said, "If you don't come apart and rest a while, you'll just come apart?")

Jean, I am thoroughly enjoying your blog! I know it's done for you, for your children's future reading, but I come and peek and have a cup of coffee with you, and thoroughly enjoy it, too. Thank you for letting me come and visit.
The poem looks great! I saw your post on the board, but goodness it goes so fast that I didn't have a chance to respond before it was buried. If you ever need help, you can email me anytime and I'll help in any way I can.
Oh, and on the quote, I don't know who said that, but I know Khalil Gibron wrote extensively on the beauty and strength that comes from coming together and pulling apart, just as the waves of the sea and the sand. Never fully separated, but moving in rhythm. Beautiful thoughts. :-)
Have a lovely day!

I am so glad you come to visit! My hope is that my writing can pull from within myself the depths of life--that which is truely important so that I can keep the day-to-day in perspective--and it is what I hope to give to those who read it as well, whether that be my children or my friends.
I have never read anything by Kahlil Gibron. I will have to look into that!
Thanks,
Jean
