Jan. '04 - Journal Entry

In the early hours of twilight I stoked the stove. The coals, barely warm, were slow to spread their fire to new logs. Out on the deck I called the cats and let the kittens out of their safe place. They welcomed breakfast with meows of thanks and rubbed my legs with their cold, soft bodies. The buildings in the east were highlighted by pink and orange clouds, heralding the coming of the sunrise. Yet in the west, not yet so low, hung the moon, a not too-perfect circle, shining through the hazy mist, ghost-like in beauty.

Morning.

Today's reading: Psalm 36
Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. NIV

Isn't it nice when your cats welcome you first thing in the morning? I love it when I let Pippin in the morning and he rubs my legs, flops down in front of me and purrs. Dogs are faithful, but when my dog comes to me wagging her tail, it's usually food she's after.
