Badgers, Eagles, and Cats

Last summer we had a badger who would burrow along the edge of our road. He’d leave holes that were less than a foot in diameter with a pile of fresh dirt next to it. I doubt the old guy wanted to stick around very long because badgers are shy, and even though the road is not well-traveled, I’d guess he would not like the traffic going by his home.

The photo of the patch of snow that I posted yesterday is one of the badger holes filled with snow. What I’d like to know is who might be down there sleeping the winter away!

I walked yesterday. As usual, I was accompanied by the fuzzies.

Orion, Oreo, Ruffy, and Betelgeuse scampering in every
direction. When they walk with me it always seems as
though there are a lot more of them than there really are! Posted by Hello

Thoughts from my Big Green Chair

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40: 28-31

We read this in our family devotions. I had a hard time getting up this morning, and I definitely fit into the category of those who are weary. It is good to know that the things that God has given me to do can be accomplished as on the wings of an eagle. There is a difference between what I would put on my to-do list and what God puts there. The things that He has assigned me, I can do for He will not grow weary in His job of empowering me.

Those who are willing to put their hope in the Lord will have their strength renewed. I don’t know about you, but I needed that this morning!

Blessings.

Dear Jean,
I think you have a great idea for a children's book. You and your kitty's out for a walk...on the farm...

I think it would be enchanting.
Your cats are very photogenic!

All you need is a little drama...
one gets lost, or up a tree, or down a hole...

Don't you think it sounds like a great idea?

Jean,
Let's do a series of books. I have one in my head about our cat Horatio -- he just appeared on our back hill this summer and is begging to have a story written about him.

Any illustrators out there in comment land? Especially gifted at capturing the beauty of kitties?

Your Isaiah verses are some of my favorite parts of scripture. Great for a tough week. THANKS.

I'm with Diane and Donna. Definitely a book about cats! I always thought if I ever wrote a book for kids about cats, I would have the cats refer to their owners as the "Laps."

I felt very, very weary yesterday afternoon. Thank you for the verses from Isaiah.
