Reporting In...

Yesterday was Saturday, but I did not “check in” to see who had weighed in. Sandy says she has been successful. Anyone else? Today I weighed in right on target.

I’m enjoying walking outside—taking my camera and looking for something beautiful. This week I’ve added something new to my daily routine--stretches. I have a great book called Stretching by Anderson. I do the routine for “People over 50”. (I figure I’m close.) Since doing exercise in the morning before breakfast is said to get the metabolism going so that the body burns more calories, I do these just as I crawl out of bed.

---------------------------------

A morning routine that I have fallen in love with:

---Read my Bible. (In bed, in the Big Green Chair, or by the wood stove.)
---Do my stretches. (Takes less than 10 minutes.)
---Check my email, blog comments, and
TWTM boards.
---Dress and water Fern. (Yes, it is supposed to be capitalized. She’s a member of the family, and if I don’t water her when I am upstairs I forget about her, so she’s got to be on the schedule.)
---Feed cats and stoke the stove.

If I do this before the family comes looking for breakfast, the whole day runs more smoothly. Do you have a morning routine that works for you?

Thoughts from my Big Green Chair

Every Sunday morning we pray a prayer of confession from the Lutheran Book of Worship. I do not know who wrote it or how old it is, but I have many a time found myself using the words throughout the week.

"Most merciful God, we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us,and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.”

Blessings.

Well, after lots of fine-tuning, we've come up with something like this:

6 am - Peyton crawls into bed with us.
6:30am - I turn Peyton parallel to us instead of perpendicular
7 am - Luke gets in bed with us
8 am - I remove a knee from my back, and elbow from my ear, look at the clock and turn over.
8:30 am - I scramble to the shower, Bud runs upstairs to see if he has any appointments for the day
9 am -I chase the kids out of our bed and tell them to hurry and get dressed while I toast an English Muffin for them.
9:30 am - With a fake smile I say "Let's go,Let's go" while trying not to raise my voice. We pile into the car and head to the store.

Yes, it took a while, but we've finally found our groove.

Thanks, Amy, for the laugh. I think it sounds like life with small children :-)

I like to get up around quarter to six. I go downstairs and have cuddle time with my cat. I let him outside, and then grind beans for coffee. I have my bible reading, other reading, and prayer time. I ride the exercise bike or do Pilates. Then I shower, check e-mail, post blog, peek at a few blogs, then have breakfast.
