Hubby in Wisc. has a chat with a calf about getting her head stuck in a gate. He was able to get all of her back on the same side with a little coaxing.

Oh, poor little calf. She looks a might distressed. No doubt, your hubby was giving her soothing words.
Let's see.....When a cow endeavors to scratch his ear, it means a rain shower is very near. When he thumps his ribs with an angry tail, look for thunder, lightening and hail........have no idea what getting stuck means. She might have watched the latest "Happy Cows" commercial where Sadie decided to leave Wis. and walk to California.
With all this personal attention from your husband and daughter your cows must be happy . (But check to see if a tv is hidden in the barn.) Bob and Carmen
My 7 year old says, "if it was a wood pen, you could just cut the wood, but it is a metal pen, so you have to push the head back." "But with a wood pen, you would have to rebuild it after you cut it." I guess he's using his thinking skills. Please tell your husband thanks for being there. I thought he would like the dozing cat, but my son went straight to your husband and the cow. Lynn
If you look carefully, you will see that one of the gates is alread partly sawed off. We had a cow in who was not nursing who got her legs caught in the gate, and we had to cut the gate apart to get her out. While she was caught, the calf had a few good meals--mom couldn't kick her away :-).
I'm not sure about the happy cows. They all have a bit of an ornery streak in them. LOL! Big bodies and little brains...
Lots of folks love their animals. I think it is especially true on the farms where the animals are there to breed or milk--we have time to work with them and know them.
We have friends who cry when they sell their beef animals...
I am both the wife of an engineer-turned-farmer in the beautiful hills of Wisconsin and the homeschooling mom of 3 teenagers. We raise Simmental cattle and grow corn, and soybeans. We also raise chickens and turkeys for our own use and have laying hens. We are giving our children a Christian classical education,
and this is our 13th year of homeschooling. The night sky is my hobby. I sew, knit, bake bread, cook from scratch, grind wheat, garden, make soap and so much more! Also, I should not forget to tell you that we all love cats! Welcome!

I wonder if all farmers dote on their animals they way you all do at Fairview Farm.
It's very sweet.

Dear Cow,
This is exactly how I have felt the last two days. How nice to have someone coax you out of your predicament (-:
May your head find its way to roomier spaces today.
